Hare-brained Schemes contracted me to bring their legendary franchise Shadowrun into the 21st century. Working on the user interface for Shadowrun was a thrill, and the serene knowledge that the original Shadowrun stakeholders were in the building was a particular thrill for an oldschool gamer like me. As such, I wanted to make sure this one came into the 21st century with a bang.

Much of Shadowrun Hong Kong’s interface needs are pretty light, so the main focus of the work was the “Matrix” aesthetic (and yes, they named their computer-world The Matrix long before the eponymous movie), and its associated minigame interface. The developers had their own set of UX wireframes, which freed me to focus on lavish detail on the art pass of the interface assets.
